House of Laughs (presented by Access Chicago Realty)

Access Chicago Realty is putting a pause on the real estate market for a night, and bringing Wicker Park to it’s knees with House of Laughs!, West Town’s favorite evening of comedy and beers! “We didn’t want to be just another magnet on your fridge, holding up your child’s report card,” says Managing Broker Mike McElroy, “Our business, at it’s core, brings people together, and we wanted to provide a space for our clients, friends and neighbors to get together and share a drink and a laugh.”

House of Laughs! was developed by Access Chicago Realty Managing Broker Mike McElroy, and has been held monthly at the Access Chicago Realty office in Wicker Park since April, 2015. The series has featured comedians with credits spanning six continents, forty-five states, and zero Emmy nominations…so far. September’s installment of the series is one of the biggest and most exciting yet, as Access Chicago Realty welcomes Adam Burke, who was named “Chicago’s Best Stand Up Comedian” in 2014 by Chicago Reader readers, and has opened for comedic luminaries like Marc Maron, Maria Bamford and Chicago’s own Hannibal Burress, among many others. He will be joined by Jonah Jurkens and Jeff Arcuri for an evening of laughter and community, provided by the team at Access Chicago Realty.

Originally from the UK, Adam Burke began performing stand-up after writing a piece on comedy for a Chicago magazine. He has appeared on Doug Loves Movies, The Benson Interruption, Put Your Hands Together, and many more podcasts. Adam has performed at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland OR; at the Just for Laughs: Chicago festival; and at the local Funny Or Die: Oddball Comedy Festival. He has opened for many comedians, including Marc Maron, Jeff Ross, Hannibal Burress, Hari Kondabolu, Maria Bamford, and many others. Burke released his debut album, “Universal Squirrel Theory” on A Special Thing Records in 2012. He was voted “Best Standup in Chicago” by The Chicago Reader’s audience in 2014.

Jonah Jurkins has found Chicago’s comedy scene to be a comfortable and welcoming home for his charismatic and unique comedic style. Since winning the Chicago Fringe Festival Stand Up Competition within his first month as a professional comedian, Jonah has been winning over crowds across the Midwest with his incredibly honest and engulfing storytelling. Jonah has travelled across the country, proving that the Chicago scene is one of great talent and drive.

Jeff Arcuri ran away from home in Michigan in 2012 and landed in Chicago, where he quickly became a regular at The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Bar, and Zanies Comedy Club. His unique brand of comedy has earned him an appearance on Laughs!: on Fox, Windy City Live, and a spot in a plethora of comedy festivals around the country.
